About the Show
David first discovered podcasts in 2016 and quickly fell in love with the medium. By the spring of 2018, he began developing the idea for a podcast about stuttering—one that could balance honest conversation with humor and creativity.
His vision for the show had several goals. He wanted listeners to learn about therapy concepts used in the treatment of stuttering while experimenting with some of his own ideas about stuttering. He wanted people who stutter and their parents to hear the stories of others so they could feel understood and less alone. And he wanted listeners to experience a sense of “desensitization” through games, laughter, and lighthearted moments that could soften the cognitive and emotional weight that often accompanies stuttering.
It was a lot to weave together. For the idea to work, David knew he needed the right co-host—someone who stuttered and was thoughtful, funny, committed, and willing to take a few risks.
Enter: Mama Sanchez.
The show officially launched in 2020 while David was attending graduate school to become a speech-language pathologist at the University of Washington. At the time, David and Mama Sanchez were living in different states, and recording the podcast became more than just a creative project. It became a way of staying connected. Over time, the experience deepened their love, respect, and admiration for one another.
The podcast is not currently producing new episodes, but the full archive is being re-released weekly so that new listeners can discover the conversations, stories, and humor that shaped the show. Episodes are available on major podcast platforms, including Spotify and Amazon Music.
